One of the best small museums of its kind in the country. Features displays of over 400 species of birds native to Monterey County, as well as exhibits depicting the animal, plant and mineral life of the Monterey Peninsula. There is also an educational exhibit studying the migratory behavior of the Monarch butterfly, and a touch gallery with tidepool. On display, too, are a superb relief map of Monterey Bay, illustrating the great chasm in the bay, and rotating exhibits of Native American artifacts. Museum hours are 10am-5pm, Tues.-Sat. Free admission.
